I don't remember ever not understanding that!
Why would they listen to people who have no experience in the game business?

It's times like this that make me realize why Nintendo doesn't pay much attention to its fanbase anymore.

"wah wah you changed it"

"wah wah you left it the same"

Obviously you don't understand that different people have different opinions. Don't generalize hypocritical behavior to everyone.

It's simple. Some people like things one way, some people like another. So if it means the most popular format is the one that continues to be explored (while the other gets thrown into the trash), then people on both sides of the discussion have to be as vocal as possible.

There's nothing hypocritical about that- it's just like politics.

What needs to be done to correctly resolve this situation and satisfy everyone equally, is for both parties to be catered to in equal amounts. Now here's the way I see it- if people want to play a generic Mario platformer that holds on to the same formula, they already have thirteen games to play, and additionally, eleven remakes. For those who want to play a more complex Mario platformer that sticks to it's own conventions, they have four, along with one remake.

That's not equal.

does that mean nintendo should do what other people say? or is it their creation and can they do everything they want with it?

They don't have to listen to anybody.

They do, however, listen to what the majority of fans (on one side) have to say because business.

I've only seen like, 4 people complain about SM3DW being "unoriginal" or "boring" so I'm fairly certain that side is not a majority.

Obviously no-one's going to want 50 quadrillion 3DX games so there's a very, very high chance they'll abandon it a game afterwards. That, and there isn't going to be another Mario game this year so they're definitely not reusing the idea again soon.

I'd like something similar to SMG again too, but your reaction to 3DL/W is a little extreme. They could suddenly go backwards and start making more non-linear 3D games, who knows.

But the majority of fans somehow think 3DW is good!

'Sall I'm sayin'.

A majority thought SMG2 was good. Your point?

Also can you stop it with the constant insults towards SM3DW when you haven't even played it, it's really annoying that you have this bias when your experience with it is some videos and 1-1.

You know what, your right.

I should stop acting like I control the video game industry.

I'll just leave it at that I just don't like the game. I was a bit too harsh on the game.

Game play is actually good, and the player setup from SMB2 is a nice way to implement the whole 4-player thing.

The controls, at least, could be better (holding a button to run just doesn't feel right on a console), and the first cutscene looks like they tried too hard.

Still like the first game better. :I

They're a business. Their goal is to make money- not art. That's not going to happen if they do things the way they want to, it happens when they do things that the consumer wants.

I should have written but, that sentence isn't supposed to point at nintendo, but to the fanbase. I know they are money and stuff etc. but sometimes I think people need to back off with whining about stuff. Its good for nothing, and they would ruin it for the other people who like it anyways.

I think Super Mario D World trumps all.
