Just stop alright?

This thread was created to appreciate games, not criticize them.

Just stop arguing, stop the drama, and we can all just accept that we all have differing opinions.

Then we can all just move on... live life... an' all that good stuff.

:) (smileys make everything better)

I appreciate all mario games, but I criticize the mario "Fans".

Lets take for example Paper Mario Sticker Star, My favorite. But appearently, as I found out a month ago, most people hate that game with passion. Basically, it didn't follow the exact Paper mario thousand year door formula (My least favorite game out the series btw).

This makes sense because: Nintendo is enslaved to their fans to make the games the fans want, they are not allowed to use their creativity to make something else, else they get a storm of angry fans with which will somehow force nintendo to make the game they want.

So much bullshit here. First of all;
> nintendo makes new creative game
fans mad
> nintendo makes the same game over and over again
fans mad (not as mad but still)

Secondly, Game is not exactly what you liked. You can make rant videos about it on youtube and force other people to follow your opinion, or you can try to enjoy them game and leave it with that.

Of course you can give your opinion and of course you can make reviews, but games like this often do not get reviewed on their actual gameplay, music, style and other stuff but on their nostalgia factor. Game isn't like this game? > bad.

Paper mario sticker star is a fine game, its not like sonic '06. Its oke if people don't like it but I find these rant "review" videos overkill, there is no review going on. when I wrote my opinion in the comments, I got a flame war and death threads, because of a mario game. Nintendo isn't enslaved to make the games you want, they can make any game they want and you get to decide if you want to play it or not.

People should appreciate what they get, even if you don't like it.

99% of the people posting comments on YouTube are idiots. Don't listen to them.

I might not like Paper Mario: Sticker Star as much as the other games in the series, but I still liked it. Some people can only think in binary (love or hate) for some reason.

I, personally, loved Sticker Star.

It combined the mechanics of Thousand-Year-Door and Super Paper Mario, while still giving its own flare!

This was one of Nintendo's best works, in my opinion. >.>

I also liked Sticker Star, but once again I felt like Nintendo was doing their best to regress the Mario games into a more primitive form. It's one of the reasons I'm still frustrated with Nintendo about Mario games lately. Luckily, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros. really picked up the slack.

Nice thread Mariofanatic. :) I agree with it greatly. SM64, SMS, SMG, and SMG2 are some of greatest things ever created on the earth IMO. Sadly 3D Land is where it all fell apart. I still shed a tear everytime I hear something like Super Mario Galaxy's title screen. Amazing, and now classic.

Super Mario 64. Sunshine, Galaxy 1, and Galaxy 2 are truly amazing games. And I'm still waiting for Super Mario Sunshine 2 and a game I have dubbed "the Mario game we have always been waiting for". Basically, it's what Super Mario 64 2 and Super Mario 128 were going to be. I wonder, will Nintendo such a 3D Mario game that is open-ended like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, and have worlds like Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2? Will it come out for Wii U in 2016 or 2017, or will it come for the codenamed "NX" in 2018? Like GameSpot once said when Super Mario Galaxy was released in 2007, "Mario's already been in outer space, where will he go next?" I wonder too.

I dunno. I've seen people SM3DW was more worthwhile and that SM3DL was less notable/creative/fun.

3D Land was never an official addition to the "open world" series anyways.

It was its own concept, its own style, and its own game. There really is no need to compare it so.

The way I see it, the 2D/3D merger concept will continue to be a thing (until it dies), just like the open world games.

And it should be accepted just as warmly. :)

(Think of it as a Mario version of Sonic Adventure)

I agree with everything you said except this.

The idea of being in space (SMG), the idea of the F.L.U.D.D. (SMS), the idea of a sprawling, nonlinear overworld (SMW), and the idea of cramming as many powerups as possible (SMB3) were all abandoned after one game, with the only exception of space which was reused once, and even then most of the time you weren't even space, you were really just in the sky with artificial gravity.

I suspect the idea of 2D in 3D will be ditched as well, since it's what Nintendo does - they have an idea they use once or twice and then move on to the next, which makes every new game feel fresh while still using the same base ideas, plot, characters and graphical style. It's the Mario series' whole spiel.

What they'll move onto next...only time will tell.

That's kinda what I meant by that.

Probably should've been more clear. :l

Why does everybody hate 3D Land?

Because 3D Land/World level design/progression is very bland and uninspired. Go through the level, climb the flagpole, you're done. It just makes me feel like it's NSMB in 3D. In the other 3D Mario games, you had to perform some very specific and tricky tasks to obtain your stars, not just go through some standard level to climb another flagpole.

Oh, and by the way, 3D Land was fine on it's own, and I don't hate it either way, I didn't mind that the linear-esque changes because it was for a portable system. However, now that it's made an impact and this linear 3D Mario level design is starting to appear on consoles, I have no choice but to blame 3D Land. It's not a bad game, but I feel it's more like a 2D Mario game than a 3D Mario game. Same for 3D World.

Basically, more proof that 3D World was a terrible addition to the Super Mario franchise.

It's the first 3D Mario game on a handheld system (not counting SM64DS), you gotta cut it some slack for that at least.

It's times like this that make me realize why Nintendo doesn't pay much attention to its fanbase anymore.

"wah wah you changed it"

"wah wah you left it the same"
