omg it's getting close

So yeah, a few things I'd like to tell you before we do it. It's not for now though, there are still a few tidbits to polish before we start doing it.

* Post layouts: the new board doesn't allow customizing the whole post box, only the part with your post. Better adapt your layouts to that!

* Email privacy: the new board doesn't use email addresses for anything, so we figured that reimplementing the 'make email private' feature wasn't needed. If your email was set to be private before the switch, it will just be removed.

* PM threads: we will convert all the existing PMs into threads based on their title, date and sender/recipient. This should cover the majority of them, but it's not perfect. If there is anything important in your PMs, you should save it now. We never know.

* Uploader, wiki, ObjectDBs, etc...: we are first working on the board itself. The extra blocks will be ported later. (and no, this won't end up like the RVLution Depot)

If there are other things you want to discuss about, this thread is the place to do so.

oh, and I'm porting over the themes shit, so if you want a theme here you can probably ask me to port it :P

The galaxy theme is a bit brighter than I remembered...the port didn't exactly go to well, but this was my output :P

MrRean: Is that a screen from Sunshine realm or Kuribo64?

It's from SMSrealm's test board. It doesn't differ from Kuribo64's branch that much.

....why?

Are we going to have a theme that still has the side bar (Not the post layout side bar, as that is going, but the other one)? Or are we getting rid of the side bar completely?

Could we have a theme that looks like this: http://neomariogalaxy.bplaced.net/board/?page=board, with not a lot of links at the top? Or is that impossible/to hard to implement now as the board is almost complete/too much work?

The sidebar has been completely removed.

That's fine. I realized the thing I don't like is all those links at the top which is why I like Neo Board's layout, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

That part worries me a bit, hopefully you won't lose motivation. Other than that, sounds pretty good.

The amount of links we have doesn't really warrant the sidebar, either. It's mostly a waste of horizontal space for non-widescreen people.

Will the board software be open-sourced? If it is, I may help by “importing” themes to the new board software, that is, if it still doesn't use body as it's base of CSS code.

It's sorta a private software. Check how Acmlmboard 2.5 does it and use that to make your theme.

I think I searched the wrong thing, but looking at the themes that Acmlmboard 2 has, it just contains pictures as for the theme and no style.CSS. o_O

The CSS files are all in the /css folder for some reason.

It's supposed to be 3D-ish.

The thing I don't like is the absence of the bar that has "Home, Forums, Downloads, Wiki, IRC" currently. It is still there, from what I know from Sunshine Realm, but all the links in it are now above it in a giant cluttered mess. I'll easily get used to it though. ;)

It's lacking gradients and shadows. And proper border colors, too.

EXP is calculated from your postcount and how long you've been around.

I will start switching tomorrow.

It has been tested and everything should go allright, but be sure to backup whatever you deem important.
