I have been using White Hole for a while now, but myself and a few friends of mine outside the site had the idea on wanting to have a Chance Cube to feature Bowser Emblems on all six sides. With very special thanks to Galaxy-Hacker, NWPlayer123 and Marionumber1 for helping on putting this idea I had in mind together, we were able to bring that thought into reality. This is my very first ASM hack I've done, with the help of three friends.

Introducing you the "Bowser Chance Cube" item. Or otherwise you can call it: "Negative Chance Cubes," "Danger Cubes," "Chaos Cubes" or just simply "Bowser Cubes."

We did ASM hacking with the Chance Cube item, which in the object directory is the "ItemDice" file. Originally it had 2 sides of a 1-up mushroom, a coin and a Bowser Emblem respectively. But we were able to change the texture of the model to have all six sides have Bowser Emblems, changed the functions so it would always spawn a Goomba and an ActionSound arc file has been placed in the AudioRes folder, so the sound would be correct when it lands on the Bowser Emblem. And after going through several tests to get it right and perfected, we have successfully pulled this one off.

Here's a download of the .zip file. But keep in mind that it will only work on NTSC copies (North America and Japan) of the game.

UPDATE 1: The hack also works in PAL versions. NWPlayer123 said it, himself

UPDATE 2: It turns that out that regardless if which Chance Cube you spin (even if it's the ones spinned at Starship Mario that has the 1-ups and star-bits), it still has the Bowser roar, due to the ActionSound arc file taking place. We might need to see if we can address this, so that way, only the "ItemDice" object that's affected by this texture and function hack can have the sound activated on that.

Not sure. Need to check with the others. I was warned that most of these hacks are only for NTSC format.

But you can still try and see if it works on your end.

I can tell the story:

Blue saw my Bowser Powerup video and asked about how it would be to create a negative version of the Chance Cube, and I told him about that. That the Bowser emblems needs texture editing, the function needs ASM, ASM can be done with IDA Pro etc. We talked a bit, but then he decided that we should move the conversation to Skype, so I gave him my Skype and we continued the conversation there.

I helped him with the texture editing. I gave him the programs and I helped him to use them under screen share and voice chat. After that we had to create the function, so I took him to Marionumber1 and NWPlayer123 on the IRC to help him with the ASM hack. They helped him and then I told him to post his hack here.

And after all that, we were able to successfully pull it off.

Actually PAL should work too, just checked.
