Topbar styling will also be removed.

If the sidebar goes, how will post layouts look?

Probably like this:

nope. Lets say you either blocked someones layout or the user (me) doesn't have a layout. It will be that sidebar because there is no sidebar

Pity, that. IMO it makes the transition between the board's theme and that of the post so jarring as to make even the most artful graphics unpleasant.

But I suppose it's been decided. No use beating a publicly executed horse, I guess. :P

You can also make a cool layout without the sidebar extensions, imo.

The sidebar extensions come with their share of problems, too.
1. No real way to put the sidebar text in a container like you can do for the post. With people who are cheap and slap a background on the whole post table, it can cause readability problems.
2. They make it harder to reuse the same layout across multiple boards because they rely on your user ID.
3. Overall it's a big hack. Remember that back then it required using !important everywhere to keep the board's theme from taking over your layout? 'Apply layout to whole post box' fixes that by removing the board's theme from your post box. But there's always the occasional idiot checking it despite not having a layout (the wording isn't clear, either).

Oh and when someone's background takes a while to load, it looks rather bad until it's loaded-- atleast constraining the post layout to the post part makes it less bad.

I still think post layouts are a bad idea. They serve no purpose and mess up 'consistency', since that is what we're going for apparently.

Neither is correct, I simply used the "Inspect Elements" Feature in Google Chrome, and turned off some CSS Elements, from there.

And that's why I removed them completely from my board...

They're a nice thing to have imo. You recognize immediately who made each post, without needing to check the username.

Oh and I always wanted this board to feel like a warm, welcoming home type place, rather than a cold workplace.

I tried a private Installation of Acmlmboard 2, and I see a shit load of Warnings, and Notices, and I can't Login.
I followed all the Steps in INSTALL.rsf carefully, though.

Insofar as we're changing how the board looks in regards to consistency, something I've always found a bit out-of-place is the logo. On RVLution, the logo has a transparent background and thus fits with any theme. Even though the kuribo64 logo we have now is indisputably awesome and had a lot of effort put into it, I feel like the background disturbs the atmosphere somewhat.

Am I the only one who feels this? Is there some way to achieve a compromise?

This banner isn't really the best thing you can slap a transparent background onto.

The new board will have it centered. Maybe we can have something that fills the whole table cell, if LordFalcon still has the files?

Oh also, here's the subforum squishing I'm planning.

* SMG ASM hacking goes in general SMG hacking. Not nearly enough threads to justify a separate forum.
* SMG hacking tools and documentations could be the same forum? Not quite sure. Either way, documentations and questions/help are becoming normal forums (not subforums of anything).

* Storage room will be a normal forum too

* Regarding the SMG2.5 archive section: all the per-galaxy subforums only contain 4 threads or so each. They will be merged into the per-world forums. Threads will be renamed if necessary to prevent confusion.

Generally, squishing the subforums is better as subforums have less visibility. Oh and this saves me the trouble of reimplementing them into Acmlmboard.

Is everyone okay with that?

No, they should be seperate. :)

Nah, I think you should just keep it as it is.

I thought the same too, yeah. I just wasn't too sure.

Nah, I think you should just keep it as it is.

But keeping it as it is would require me to implement subforums only so that an archived portion of the board uses them, and nothing else would use them. Somewhat wasteful.

I don't personally see what's wrong with subforums to begin with. Sure, maybe they aren't as visible, but the problem there lies with what seems to be the font size rather than an organizational flaw.

I meant that new posts in subforums are less visible, and as such they are less frequently checked (and less moderated).

Can there actually be a "Report user" option?

You could just PM the admins if anything occurs.

I suppose that would work in a place where they are a lot of users/forums/posts and moderating is really hard.

What is really nice to have is a 'PM the admins' feature.

The issue though is how to handle marking such PMs as read. Should they be read for everyone as soon as an admin sees it? Or be individual?
