It's as different as Call of Duty is from the installments

Yeah, but SMG has a goo- well um

A fanbase better than COD's atleast. I'd rather another Galaxy over another Sunshine, though. :P

idk the Mario fanbase is filled with young children ignorant of nonNintendo franchises.

And, you know, idiots on YouTube.

"WHAT THE FUCK this isn't in the game IT'S A FAKE THIS GUY IS A PHONY!!11!!!one!"
and they act like ROM hacking is morally wrong

people like the type in this community is what a good fanbase is made of. competent people.

They probably learned ROM hacking is wrong from Nintendo, their official parental figures.

But surprisingly, the comments I get on my videos in YouTube are pretty friendly. I haven't received a particularly rude one yet.

Good thing is, I have friends younger than me who know that ROM hacking is pretty cool. The people around me are nice, except for everyone at school. "you can't be talking about the real world when you play Mario you idiot"

people like that I just want to strangle. and yes, this did happen.

I'd like to tell them that being an adult is about enjoying things that are good, not because of their target audience. Isn't it strange that every adult I know openly embraces cartoons and video games like Mario while the edgy, emo teenagers you probably deal with are the ones who make that condescending remarks?

Mario IS part of the real world, as well as enjoying video games. They haven't experienced what the real world actually is like, because they're ignorant children who think that their ratings is based upon what things they enjoy. It's pretty ironic for them to be talking about this.

You know, what really annoys me is parents letting their <10 year old child play stuff like GTA5 and COD. The stuff is extremely violent, and honestly should be far away from children.

Plus, GTA5 has about 382595 curse words in it, and you know how young kids love repeating new words they learn. >_>

I unfortunately one time called my cousin a bastard because I didn't know it was a bad word. xD

PendanticGreenMario plays Mario all the freaking time and yet she has real world discussions on global warming and vaccination and driving, and she likes bird watching and science and history and real world things and she is an atheist.

She still seems to be in touch with reality.

But Super Mario Galaxy 2 is - what? diiiiffferrreeeennnttt :DDD

Well, it has a different worldmap system, hub, and Green Stars.. SMG1 only had 3, meanwhile SMG2 has 120.

It's actually quite different. :P

Call of Duty: Black Ops III has 4 completely new playable characters, has a bigger focus on open-world shooting, a new momentum-based movement system that uses thrusters to allow players to perform short bursts in the air and make wall movements, there is a "specialist" character system where players can pick from 9 different soldiers, weapon customization, a new XP progression system via Zombie mode, new powers, and probably new maps and weapons.

Didn't even play the game, just took it from Wikpedia.

Seems like a hell a lot more new significant gameplay mechanics than Galaxy 2 (which is just mostly, if not all temporary powerups.

But still, Galaxy 2 has got to be the most goddamn overrated Mario game of all time. It does not deserve all that heaping praise for what bare minimum it does.

This. I don't like it when those young children start cursing at such a young age..

I remember listening to a track on a Kill Bill soundtrack, that was my first taste of the word "fucking". Didn't know it was a really bad word until it was told by my bro or dad, forgot who said what. If they didn't really say that, I wouldn't have noticed it, just how I didn't notice how the song "Building a Mystery" by Sarah Mclaughin had the word "fucking" in it until when I listened to it later.

I can't even fathom playing those types of games if I was your age, xKitten. The only experience I had with M games at that age was games like Diablo II and Doom, with both games being quite dated and therefore, something to laugh at than get scared at. I was sensitive to video game violence and I especially would have strayed far away from GTA. I don't even know how they can muster playing through games at this age.

Also btw, tell those kids is that adults make Mario for a living, dumbasses.

and she is an atheist.

Being an atheist being in touch with reality is an opinion, not a fact. ;)

anyway, yea, kids at my school have to throw in curse word in about every single sentence there is

it's extremely annoying :P

I'm not comfortable either. Even I don't like cursing a lot, and I'm 21. I don't think kids should be exposed to violence. It's not that they'll get violent, but being exposed to this stuff desensitizes you, so when actual violence does happen, desensitized people tend to downplay it. And violence also helps people react more aggressively under pressure, but I don't think they'll become murderous. I think it's ridiculous to think that extended periods of Left 4 Dead 2 will make you a serial killer.

Yeah, that's true.

But I decided to be atheist because I believe having a god is as plausible as having a teapot orbit our sun and it's between Earth and Mars. That's another topic, though.

It's still funny how people say "Mario is kiddy and whatever" 10 years ago, and they still say it today, even though Mario is still one of the biggest and most successful franchises in existence.

These type of kids don't go away, do they? At least that train of thought dies with them when they grow older.

I could argue that the New Testament is a historical book and many people would have proven it wrong 1000 years ago if it didn't happen. :P

I disagree with tons of things in the bible, though. It's annoying being a Christian while being bisexual at the same time. xD

If you vote Super Mario Galaxy 2, you're voting for the rehash option. It's no better than all the other rehashes (like Call of Duty) Mario fans keep bitching about.

there haven't been 11 smg2s :^)

children using expletives

i first heard the f-bomb when i was like 6 or 7, and immediately asked if it was, indeed, the 'eff-word'. wasn't repeatedly exposed to it (or other expletives and slurs of its caliber) until i started browsing the internet.

I haven't watched the movie either, don't plan on it because of the excessive violence in it

I do like the soundtrack a lot though.

Well, to be honest, Mario is kinda... kiddy and dorky? Sonic was advertised as "hip" and "cool" back then and they intended to contrast that with the babyish Mario image. Of course, Sonic later went to be the laughingstock of video game characters while Mario is doing okayish today?

Doesn't excuse it from the bare minimum when New Super Mario Bros. can't get away with it (and it's only one game more at the time).

yeah, religion + internet always equals disaster, unless you're talking about it with people of the same religion :P but yeah, I respect others' beliefs as long as they respect mine :)

yeah, I really only curse when I need to emphasize crap, as in, whenever I'm provoked/mad, talking about idiotic people, etc. and yeah

I don't overuse curse words, in my opinion. :P

"If it isn't broken, don't fix it." That's pretty much what Nintendo's been doing for the past few years. If you're complaining about how they keep doing the same thing then don't even bother.
