Well we do it via memory patches for Riivolution. But we plan on making a compiler to compile it and then run the compiled code on the Wii. (Newer style.)

Yes. (Also, PAL users don't get any love. :P)

Um...so, you're just going to say that PAL users don't "get any love" straight to a PAL user? Wow. Talk about boldly rude.

There isn't really any reason to release it regardless, considering that it's replacing an existing powerup and therefore shouldn't actually be used.

Plus, there would ports to PAL for any proper powerups. This one is just a good demonstration for ASM.

Wow. Grim. But...I thought the replacer status was going to be fixed.

Depressing. I've always been oddly enamored with the concept of Hyper Mario, and to see the powerup be used as a never-released proof-of-concept...it just...it...I don't even know. Depressing news. I don't understand, once it's finished, why not release it? At that point it'll be viable...right?

Well, Hyper Mario is irrelevant, as Invincible Star and Pepper Yoshi exist.

Well, MrRean said that, but I'd still be interested in releasing it once this is its own powerup.

Boldy rude? We aren't going to make a patch for a powerup that won't even be released, mind you.
It would require a little more work, even if we do intend to release it.

IIRC the PAL and NTSC versions of SMG2 are very similar. Identical or almost.

Yeah, porting the Red Star and Ice Flower to PAL only required changing the addresses of two patches, if I remember correctly.

1) This is a powerup replace, yes, but the final will be a 100% new by-itself powerup.

2) I don't know if we will actually give out the final product. IDEK if the code will even be made public, either.

1) Okay, so that reason to not release is out the window.

2) I hope so. Why not? It looks like a lot of fun to play around with, even if it is buggy!

Oh, and here are the textures I mentioned. I won't object if you don't like them, but I would be honored if you took a look at them. That goes for anyone on the project. Sorry for being so pushy about the whole not-gonna-release issue. I'm just sick and tired of getting the same thing in a certain other game's modding community...yeah, I'm talking about Spore.

Why wouldn't you release it? because you don't want to give other people a chance understand and make powerups their own? It sounds a bit odd to not release it because "its buggy"... I am just trying to understand the situation here.

How would we know if it's buggy? We haven't even gotten close to the "new object" part. :P

Why can't it be released then? It's easy to release things. Just upload the patch on the uploader.

I already said we might release, we might not.

Can people please leave it at that?

First off great job on the powerup. I can't wait to see what else comes from this. As I mentioned on the IRC a powerup that switches gravity with a shake would open up a ton of level design.

To other people can we just drop the whole release thing. As previously mentioned this powerup doesn't open up any crazy level design and in it's current state it is really hard to get working. So instead of arguing with them about the release you should give them more time to work on something even more gamechanging.

Great job on the new powerup though. I can't wait to see where this goes!

Fine, I'll shut up about it. Has anyone taken a look at my textures? If so, what's the decision?

We already have a texture for it.
