You do not, AFAIK as long as you remove both the object in the map file and the entry in the Scenario file, it shouldn't mess anything up.

Well, what I want to do in some galaxies is this format: Have the 3 normal Power Stars on the top row, then have a prankster comet mission (gold Power Star), a second prankster comet mission (green Power Star*), and the hidden Star (gold Power Star) on the bottom row. Is there any way to accomplish this?

*The reason for a green Power Star is so that the second comet ONLY appears after defeating Bowser with 120 Stars.

EDIT: Hello??? Can someone please answer my question so that I may continue editing the SMG2 files (if needed)? Please?

Yes, that should work. Just make sure you keep the PowerStarIDs the same in the Scenario, we've had trouble in the past with that.

SETTING OPTIONS
a. Change each Star type to "normal"/"hidden" in the BCSV editor.
b. Give each Star an intro cutscene/galaxy fly-in.
c. Put a Star in each scenario, and place a Comet Medal and a hidden Star within the galaxy.
d. Add 2 Comet Types. ("Comet" section in BCSV editor.)
e. Have working cameras, checkpoints, and starting points.
f. Play-test each mission a few times.

Which of the above settings does each "new" Power Star need in the game?

What galaxy are you replacing and what map are you using?

I'm not replacing a galaxy... I'm just changing the Stars IN each current galaxy... I want to have 3 gold Power Stars on the top row, and I want a gold Star, a green Star (appears after collecting 100 purple coins in the galaxy), and a hidden gold Star on the bottom row. (This may not happen on the boss galaxies, but it will most likely happen on all the other galaxies in the game.

EDIT: QUESTION: How do I add a new layer to a galaxy?

EDIT2: QUESTION: How do I change the PowerStarID on the actual Star item in Whitehole (not in the BCSV editor, but in the actual editor mode)?

You have to do it in the BCSV editor.

Go into Whitehole's BCSV editor.
In the left box, type this in:
/StageData/InsertGalaxyHere/InsertGalaxyHereScenario.arc

On the right:
/InsertGalaxyHereScenario/ScenarioData.bcsv
Find the PowerStarID column.

But I do not recommend editing those. I feel as if they're hardcoded and shit the game if changed.

...But I want to add a NEW star(s) to a galaxy. How do I do that?

Also, how do you add a new layer to a galaxy (for the new Star mission)?

The problem with that is you can't generate new PowerStarIDs. You have to use an existing PowerStarID in the current galaxy, or else it will crash.

...Oh... well... Is it still possible to add a new layer to a galaxy???

Yes, either port a 3 star map to a 2 star one (I assume you're using Flip Swap) or use WiiExplorer to add it manually. Keep in mind you don't just edit the map, the scenario needs to link to the layer too.

...Well, I'm just editing the galaxy as it is, so I'm not using Flip-Swap. I'm just using the galaxy itself. (For example, I'm using Rightside Down to edit Rightside Down Galaxy.)

Are those the only ways to add a new layer to a galaxy? (How would you use WiiExplorer to add a new layer?)

If you open up a map in it it's pretty obvious. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/56043942/RandomPics/WiiExplorerMap.png Add a new folder in each section where it has Layer _ folders and then copy all the files from, say, Layer A into the new layer. (You should probably duplicate the StartScenario too). Keep in mind layers can only go from A to P (in the scenario you calculate the number for each layer by using 2^X, A is 1, B is 2, C is 4 (2^2), all the way to 2^15 for P with 32768).

you can't duplicate directly, you have to extract a folder (or all the files, you're better off doing the former) by selecting the folder and hitting the "extract" button, then clicking "add existing file/folder" to add the folder back in.

Well... I tried that, but the folder(s) wouldn't go into the proper spot (such as: my Layer A folder wouldn't be placed directly underneath the Common folder). If this is normal, the let me know! If it isn't normal, then what am I doing wrong?

EDIT: QUESTION: Also, is there any way to fix the Star overlap (caused by the 4+ gold Stars) on the Star Select screen?

Not without modifying the code (which we don't know nearly enough about it yet to do so)
