So apparently they just announced a new system (literally called the New 3DS) and it apparently has a lot of new upgrades. TECHNOLOGY!
The layout has been revised, there's now a second circle pad (that is super tiny and I have no idea what the use is), and ZL and ZR buttons, the touchscreen is now a giant NFC/Amiibo port, they moved around the stylus and SD card ports (which now supports MicroSD) and such. There's now a bigger battery and the sweet spot for the 3D is now bigger. Also, last but certainly not least, there's an upgraded CPU, so much it can now run Xenoblade Chronicles, one of the most demanding Wii games I've ever seen.

I guess it's cool that they announced a new system although it sucks that they didn't upgrade the resolution of the screen IMO. I have no plans on buying this though since I bought my 3DS less than a year ago.

I'm gonna try to upgrade because of all the exclusives (including Xenoblade) and the upgraded power for developing homebrew.

Crap! Then flashcards won't be able to fix the CPU usage and will be unuseable. I might get one, considering I just bought a new 3DS XL not to long ago....

Same here. I might get one next year. Also I'm really curious about how well the New 3DS will handle Makna Forest in Xenoblade Chronicles.

I dont like the XL design, and seems the new 3DS has it. blah.

Will need to sell my 3DS first to get one of this one. And indeed, the new CPU thing is BS for us old users. I hope that fixes the lag in pokemon tho.

Also yeah, you'll need a credit card to disable the parental control on this.

In what seems to be a new form of parental control, New 3DS consoles will come with a pre-installed filter which limits what websites can be visited using the built in web browser.

The filter can be turned off for a fee of 30 yen ($0.29), which is deducted immediately upon registering a valid credit card. According to Nintendo, the filter will be used to "prevent children from looking at harmful websites" on the New 3DS, and the fee (and credit card registration) is required so that children cannot disable the filter without their parents' consent.

The 3DS has been involved in not so child-friendly activities in the past, and it looks like this browser filter might be Nintendo's way to make the New 3DS a more child-safe successor.

Yeah, that lag is kinda annoying, when the fps goes down to like 20-10 when a beedrill is flying :P

WOW, that is seriously stupid. So if you want the full experience you have to put in your credit card credentials. That is a new level of dumb

Yeah. I also hope it will have better, less laggy Download-Play. Note: Don't play Kirby Triple Deluxe Download-Play, it is laggy as f***!

Well, I hope ninty atleast gives up something for being old adopters :P

And BTW, why are you people complaining about the 3DS fee? Its not like you would browse the internet when you have a Desktop or a phone which is 100000 times better.

I don't really care as long as they don't start exclusively making games for it. Probably won't happen, since it seems more like a DSi than a completely new console, but still.

New 3DS XL looks kinda nice however. The regular New 3DS is ugly as fuck.

Well, they ARE re-releasing Xenoblade Chronicles exclusively for the New 3DS. Which sucks.

This is REALLY bad news for me, considering I just recently pre-ordered a Smash Bros Limited Edition 3DS XL.....

Seriously? WHY?

I really don't want to miss out on the new exclusive games (assuming there will be some very good ones), but I don't want to upgrade my 3DS AGAIN after less then a year.......

Of course I could cancel the order and wait for late 2015, but considering stuff like SSB4 and Pokemon AR/OS I REALLY want and need that 3DS upgrade right now....

And even if I do end up selling the ordered 3DS XL in favor of the New 3DS XL later, I still dunno how an eventual data transfer would work, and I want to keep the cool Smash Bros. design....

Goddamnit. The worst thing is that the only thing that could convince me to upgrade is the new games. Sure the new 3DS has better CPU but it doesnt warrant an update. If it was more revolutionary like the change from a DSi/DS Lite to a 3DS then I'd by all means trade in my older consoles, but this is...eh.

It feels just like it would trading in a DS Lite for a DSi back in the day (something I never did myself), except with the DSi getting exclusive games.
I can live without a 3DS Xenoblade (I already played through the game on Wii), but if the new 3DS gets something like an exclusive Zelda/Kirby/Metroid/Pikmin/SmashBros game.....

They might not have this everywhere else guys. But anyway, I literally got a 3DS at the end of last year... Ugh... Well, I guess i'll have to sell my old 3DS unless they have some good trade-in discount. Does anyone know whether or not this supports DS games? Also will they still make 3DS games or will all games become New 3DS exclusives? And also, Nintendo seems to not have learned their lesson with the Wii U's name and how people got confused...

I like it but it's not rly that much of a cpu change as most of it goes in to menus and the rest is kinda the same as the 3ds, but I do love it a lot. I want to have it but I need money first. #poor :c

Aren't lemons just adorable?

Nor does Sony with PS4 and Microsoft with their Xbox one.

Anyway, I think this is a needless system- a waste of time, in which they could use to develop a new SMS 2 of another 64 or Galaxy... I'm pretty sure the Idea is not too make many versions of the same system in the space of 4 or so years (if its a console).

Looks cool, but I won't get it unless there is a game that comes out that I want that needs to use it.
