I texture edited an BDL file and when I opened it it said "Parsing TÉX1" and looked like that:

I tried with replace different textures and used different BDL files. It worked first. Don't think I did something wrong in the command promp, because I didn't. Does anyone know what that is for kind of an error?

Something has probably gone wrong. Try it in-game. There's a slim chance it will work as intended even so. Don't just load the level, view the object/planet. If anything goes wrong, it's the specific texture or model that's the problem.

You converted it wrong. It's supposed to show the textured model.
What exactly did you do?

I had a BTI file and I opened the COmmand promp and type "cd/Python27" and clicked enter. Then I type "python.exe pytex1.py" and click enter. It showed:

"Usage: python pytex1.py
is -r for replace texture, -l for list textures, or -h for help
is the BDL to texture hack
is the BTI CONTAINING the new texture
is the number texture you want to replace
is the filename of the edited BDL to be written out"

I type "pytex1.py -l OtaKing.bdl" and click enter. Then it came a list of his textures. I type "pytex1.py -r OtaKing.bdl NewTexture.bti 3 NewTexture.bdl" and click enter. After that it came a BDL file in the Python27 folder that name was "NewTexture.bdl" and this one was the texture edited OtaKing.

Sounds like what I do when it works. Seems to be a non-PyTEX1-compliant model. Sorry folks, but NOT HAPPENNING. PyTEX1 makes dreams come true...except for when it crushes them instead.

I try them in Whitehole so I can see them when that problem happens :P. It crashed when I had a texture-edited Cosmic Mario, Boo, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Bee Mushroom and Bee Mario before the "Super Mario Galaxy" text come.

>Python27

You need to update to Python 3. (I don't know if this actually is the problem, it's just needed for other programs.)

Also, in the model you want to texture, type in "pytex1.py -l YourModel.bdl"

You should see existing texture names. Find the number to the left of the name and remember it.

Then, type this in:

"pytex1.py -r PreviousBDL.bdl YourTexture.bti TheNumberYouRemembered NewBDL.bdl"

I seriously do not want to sound rude, but it's not really good to tell a person that it's impossible and they should just give up, because you don't know what the solution is.

Also, there is no such thing as a "non-pytex1-compliant model".

Uh....there kinda is, I've had instances where it just doesn't work at all and totally fucks up the model if I try to replace anything.

Which ones? I've never seen one do that before.

I think one is dry bones.
EDIT: Nevermind, it was something really obscure, there were duplicate names and things were out of order and it was a total mess, even when printing.

hm, weird. Either way, I think we should get an updated texture editor while we're talking about it.
