And Merry Christmas, albeit late. Sorry for being that late...

Anyway, I hope that you guys enjoyed your Christmas. And may 2012 be full of success for all of you, as well.

I'm sorry that I have no Christmas/New Year release of SM64DSe... the blog says more about all that.

Oh right, another NY resolution to add there would be linking blog accounts to board accounts... may be tricky though because both use different and incompatible methods of storing passwords. Or I could just scrap that shit and integrate Kuriblog into the board, like Dirbaio did for NSMBHD. What do you guys think?

Anyway, let's put technical crap aside for now, what are your resolutions for New Year?

I don't know what you mean by 'teleport'... but anyway, did you do what I told you to do? Try running a ROM that has been patched by SM64DSe but not edited. That way we'll be able to know if the problem comes from the flashcart's firmware (which would require adding a 4th patching pass in SM64DSe; don't change your firmware) or from the modifications you did to your ROMs.

Hmm, fine. Then, which parameters did you set for that warp?

Hmm... those are parameters 1 and 2, right? I have no idea what they do so idk...

Which level does your exit point to, and what did you set the entrance ID to? The exit must be linked to an existing entrance in the destination level.

Now, perhaps the problem is occuring in the destination level. That, or the act selector crashed-- the act selector for the test maps is glitched.

Otherwise, I have no idea what can be wrong.

This note, just to let you know that Kuribo64 will be following the internet blackout move on the 18th to protest against SOPA/PIPA.

Kuribo64 will be proceeding based on GMT time. I have no idea if that's right but I don't care. Everything is programmed and ready.

More details on the blog.

That is, one year minus three days.

Now what? I'm unsure what to do. I'm not sure whether to discontinue the project or not. But I don't want people to be waiting forever either.

More info on the blog. (if you can't log in there, you need to register there, even if you're already registered here. Board accounts can't be used on the blog.)

Tell me what you think. Please don't just say 'no dont discontinue the project'. I have lost most of my motivation to work on it. The project, if I leave it, will need someone who can code and has motivation, or it'll die. If all you want is a new release, you should either learn to code and make one yourself, or just wait till something happens.

SM64DSe isn't discontinued until I explicitly say so. If I leave it, I'll release the most recent source code I have. Additionnally, all v2 releases are provided with their respective source code. And all versions can be opened in Reflector.

Hmm yeah, but eventually people will complain about the model importing issues and how it's getting the way of proper level editing, and I'll be banging my head over that crap again.

But I got an idea. Instead of discontinuing the editor, I may open a googlecode or github repo and put the source there. This way, interested people could help coding for the editor. Dirbaio may or may not be part of this.

Now, I want to be sure that the repo will serve a purpose. If it never ever sees a commit, well, it'll most likely mean that the project is dead until I get motivation and time.

So basically you're suggesting me to go bash my head against MKDS collision maps rather than SM64DS collision maps. I said on the blog that model importer issues are the most annoying I'm facing. Actually, those collision problems are my number one motivation killer. Doing the same with another game won't motivate me more.

I felt that this way was better than just leaving the project and throwing the source at the internet.

If you're interested in contributing, show me a patch of yours, and if your code is good, I may add you to the project. Dirbaio, from the NSMB hacking scene, has already joined us.

Oy yeah, that brings back some memories. AOEII is still an awesome game as of today. I still play it occasionally as of today

And well, you don't need to work 24/7 to actually succeed. You can have some free time, and I suggest you take some. I don't know about you but I can't work 24/7 on complex crap that doesn't interest me, without getting mad at some point.

As for being a 'professional gamer'. I'm not sure how that business works exactly but I know a few things. For example, if you want to be a videogame tester, you aren't just going to play games all day. You may have to play the same level over and over again to find some well-hidden bug, and file long and detailed bug reports, etc... I'm not trying to disgust you away from the career you want, just telling you to not take certain things too seriously. I suggest you do some research about that career, so that you know how it is, and not just follow childhood beliefs.

Now, I'm sad that you take the decision to leave the board. This board is barely ever getting one post every month, it needs active users, be them childish or not. But I'm not going to hold you back. Do whatever you want. If you feel that this choice is better for your real life, go ahead. I hope to see you back someday

⊡ Where can I get a SM64DS ROM?
Google is your best friend.

⊡ Why does multiplayer break when I edit levels?
Because the ROM's header and binaries are signed with a RSA-1024 signature. The DS firmware will check that signature upon establishing a download play connection, and will just freeze on a Nintendo logo if the signature is wrong. Since SM64DSe modifies the ROM's header and binaries, well, the signature is bound to become wrong. So no multiplayer hacking for now.

⊡ When will the next SM64DSe release come?
Whenever it is ready. Hint: asking me about it will not make it come faster.

Welcome aboard, ELMario! Planning on making a SM64DS ClassID tool?

Either way, enjoy your stay

Hmyeah... having to launch an extra firmware can be cumbersome (regular firmware and flashcart menu are already taking a while to launch). On the other hand, FlashMe requires a hardware modification, so even though it's small I don't feel like trying it. And anyway SM64DS's multiplayer sucks

^ This.

Not to mention, if you're able to make an editor for MKDS, you're supposedly skilled enough to do that kind of research yourself.

(but something tells me you aren't-- your editor's code looks like you have been assembling code randomly taken from several other projects without even knowing what you're doing)

Recently, a new category of people has started to show interest into this place. The good new is that it has been long since Kuribo64 last got activity. The bad new is that...

... said category is spambots.

To prevent the place from falling into excessive spam and chaos, I decided to put both blog and board into read-only mode. That is, registrations are closed, and existing users can still log in, but they can't touch stuff anymore.

SM64DS hacking is officially dead too. Noone gives a shit.
