(sorry if this was covered somewhere else) I was wondering about the water areas that appeared in galaxies like beach bowl and starshine beach.(also found in countless other galaxies and planets). How do you create them, because I can't find any examples in the game or the forums. all I know is the RailMoveWater. But that doesn't explain the planetary water on the first starshine planet. If anyone can help, please do. :)

Planetary water is built into the planet model itself. If you need to place water, you either make a whole new planet with water collision flags, or place RailMoveWater and WaterArea to have a big block of water.
Status: It was really, really fun, guys - thanks for the ride!

If this involves a kcl, what Id would this KCL have, and what does the waterflag do? And how would it help make a sphereical water planet or any free form shape of water?

Water alone is invisible BTW. Whitehole doesn't have models set up for water objects so it's mostly groping in the dark if you're trying to make a water planet.

1) ...model? What? You mean the water itself? It's on the model, it's just not appearing because it's controlled by a WaterArea. (Either that or transparency.)

2) Stygmax, it's RailMoveWaterObj

How would you make the water on your planet swimmable. All I know is how you can make it knee height, waist height etc. I don't want to use RailMoveWaterObj.

Use WaterArea. Unlike RailMoveWaterObj which is forced to be a beveled rectangular prism, it can be different shapes. Just change the number in AreaShapeNo.
-1 = FREEZE frame!
0 = Rectangular prism
1 = Hemisphere (?)
2 = Sphere
3 = Cylinder
Don't know any higher.

Uhh, of course FFFFFFFF(-1) freezes, it's null, meaning you never gave it a shape, so of course it would crash :P

Sorry to keep pestering you guys, but how do you use water areas for custom models?
Thanks for your help on the RailMoveWaterObj.

I wish I could help you but all I've been doing is playing around plopping in objects with null arguments. I have a ways to go but these interactions will allow all kinds of possibilities.

Thanks for your help on the RailMoveWaterObj.

That...has not been tested.
(Although, I did test it once.)

You open up the PlanetMapDataTable and set the WaterFlag to 1 and end the filename with "____PlanetWater.arc" and it should load it. (But the water is way off of the model. It's the damn sizing that shits all over the place.)

Either that or it's a KCL link or something. This is the way that I got it to work. Not correctly, but it's a start...

Thanks with your guys advice. I should be able to create a fully functioning planet with water.
